Halal Wastewater Reclamation Treatment Plant (3000m3/day)

Ayamas Food Corp Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd is among the first halal industry in Malaysia and over the years, Ayamas has succeeded in becoming one of the most established and trusted halal fresh chicken and chicken-based products with modern and hygiene condition.

In order to accomplish the intent to further develop halal industry in Malaysia, Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIRB) has collaborated with Ayamas and introduced a comprehensive Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) technology that is believed to be the-first-in-the world halal recycling plant for poultry processing. The treatment plant is equipped with technology to treat effluent into clean, clear and odourless water categorized as “air mutlaq” or pure water by the Selangor state mufti’s office.

The fast-track project was completed in October 2018 within an eight-month time frame with a clear project intention was to cater Ayamas’s production expansion in the near future which allows the WWTP to treat up to 3000 m3/day of wastewater generated from the poultry processing plant.

AIRB’s WWTP technology has not only allowing halal to stay in step with the modern world but it also marks with their green initiative by installing a Recycling Plant. The recycling plant works by further treating the final effluent from the WWTP to be used for non-potable purposes such as floor and truck washing, toilet flushing as well as for gardening the landscape. Through this technology, Ayamas is able to reduce up to 25% of the current dependency to the City Water Supply.

Staggeringly, the green initiative has promoted more sustainable conservation of water while preserving the ecosystem.

To emulate further success of the project, the technology applied is the combination of low-pressure Ultra-Filtration (UF) Membrane with biological wastewater treatment process and called as Membrane Bio-reactor (“MBR”). The UF uses membrane application with pore sizes in the range of 0.1 to 0.001 micron resulted in clean water, free of pathogens and contains low turbidity as any suspended matters, bacteria and viruses has been effectively removed.

The WWTP technology provided by AIRB has helped to sustain the integrity of Ayamas halal product and further develop a proper water service technological framework that can continue to support the entire supply chain of halal fresh chicken product.
