“Open House” At Parit Raja 4 Water Treatment Plant To Commemorate “World Water Day” At The National Level From 24 March 2008 To 29 March 2008

An “Open House” at Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant was organised by Southern Water Corporation Sdn Bhd (SWC) to commemorate World Water Day which was celebrated at the national level from 24 March 2008 to 29 March 2008.

 

This was in response to a request from Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) which requested all water operators to hold “Open House” so that water consumers can visit and learn on the operations of the water treatment facilities.

 

The management of SWC was happy to respond positively to SPAN request and SWC nominated Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant to be opened to the public on the designated days from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

 

Prior to visiting the operational site, a briefing was held for the visitors at the exhibition hall to explain the water treatment process beginning at the aerator to the filter. The visitors were also taken to the laboratory to observe the quality testing procedures carried out on the treated water by the staff.

 

Visitors from all walks of lives visited the Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant for the six (6) days which were opened to the public. The most number of visitors are students and undergraduates from schools, tertiary institutions and nursing colleges.

 

Among the visitors, SWC is very privileged to host a delegation led by YB Muhammad Aziz, Member of Parliament representing the constituency of Sri Gading. The delegation also included twenty (20) representatives of “kampung-kampung” located in the Sri Gading constituency.

 

The delegation were briefed on the background of the company and later taken for a tour of the water processing facility. All the visitors were invited to light refreshments and presented with door gifts to commemorate their visit to the Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant.

 

At the end of the “Open House” which lasted for six (6) days, approximately two hundred and fifty (250) visitors paid a visit to the Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant.

 

SWC is privileged to host this “Open House” and treat as a great success in imparting information to the public at large on the operation of a water treatment facility. The Company expressed the hope that the “Open House” will better inform the public on the management of the water services in the State of Johor Darul Takzim.
