The Board of Directors (Board) of AIR Bhd paid a special visit to the Parit Raja 4 water treatment plant on 10 April 2008. This visit brings significant meaning to the staff at the water treatment plant.
The objective of the visit is to inspect and assess the rehabilitation works currently being carried out at the water treatment plant. It is also an opportune time for members of the Board to get acquainted with the employees and the operational issues at the water treatment plant.
In the second half of 2007, the management of SWC, a subsidiary of AIR Bhd, on its own initiative began a rehabilitation programme to ensure that the fourteen (14) water treatment plants under its management continue to operate effectively and efficiently. This is to further improve the reliability and quality of service to the State Government of Johor and to the end customers. To this end, a Special Task Force (STF) was set up to thoroughly examine and inspect all the water treatment plants and to detail down the necessary rehabilitation works to be carried out.
The rehabilitation works were generally categorised into three (3) parts:
The STF identified sixty nine (69) projects or jobs categorised under the three (3) phases. The estimated total costs for the rehabilitation works came to approximately RM18.13 million. The rehabilitation works had commenced in the third quarter of 2007 and is expected to be completed in year 2009.
Presently, out of the sixty nine (69) projects, forty six (46) or 66.6% had been completed. Another twenty two (22) projects are in the various stages of completion and are expected to be completed by end year 2008. The remaining eight (8) projects will be carried out and completed in year 2009.
The members of the Board were pleased with the outcome of the visit as the identified rehabilitation works at the water treatment plant had been carried out satisfactory.
